There are two Popular Library books numbered SP100. But nothing about the first book shown here is anything like any of the other "SP" books, while the second book DOES fit.

Man Into Woman, by Niels Hoyer, which was one of the first mainstream paperbacks to deal with the issue of transgender individuals in the U.S., was printed in 1953. It is a "short-paperback" format book and sold for 25¢. The Kings Vixen, by Pamela Hill, was printed in 1961, as were the SP-numbered books before and after it. And, as is the case of those other books, it was a tall-paperback format and sold for 50¢.

I'm guessing that Man Into Woman was actually MEANT to be some sort of "special" offering by Popular Library, and it was their intention to begin those "Special" books with number 100, but that the whole concept was abandoned after the first book. The "SP-series" begins with number 2 (they probably figured that this first SP100 is the "assumed #1"). All the books in the SP-series are 50¢, with that one exception.
